Shawn is a former educator and lifelong sports fan living in the Charleston, South Carolina area with his wife, daughter, and their rescue Mastiff.

While he didn’t grow up with dogs, Shawn has more than made up for it in adulthood. Over the years, he’s shared his life with a Bullmastiff, a Saint Bernard, and now a lovable Mastiff. He has a deep love for all dogs—but the bigger the dog, the better (and the more slobber!). Each one has left a lasting mark on his heart.

Shawn was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia and earned two degrees from Marshall University. He spent ten years as an elementary school teacher before deciding it was time for something new. Though the career shift wasn’t easy, it allowed him to explore new interests while continuing to support learning and growth in different ways.

Sports have always played a big role in Shawn’s life. Whether it’s football, basketball, baseball, or soccer, he follows his favorite teams with passion and dedication—there’s rarely a season where he’s not cheering someone on.

These days, Shawn enjoys a slower pace of life surrounded by family, big dogs, and the occasional game on TV. He’s learned that the best paths are rarely the ones you plan, and there’s always more love to give—especially to a rescue dog.
